Terms of service
Last updated 2 November 2026
These terms cover your use of Backfire, an authenticated HTTP forwarding service created and operated by Gurutva Murdia. By creating an account or sending a forward request you agree to them.
Who operates Backfire
Backfire is created, owned and operated by Gurutva Murdia, working as an independent developer. There is no parent company, reseller or support desk behind the service: Gurutva Murdia is the sole party responsible for it and the only party you are contracting with.
Support, billing questions, abuse reports and legal notices all go to backfireapi@outlook.com.
The service
Backfire accepts an authenticated request from your application, performs a single outbound HTTP call to the URL you specify, and returns the upstream response in a predictable envelope.
Backfire is a relay. It does not interpret, transform, retry or orchestrate your business logic. Every decision about what to call and how to interpret the result belongs to your application.
Accounts and keys
You are responsible for keeping API keys confidential. Keys are shown once at creation and stored only as a one-way hash; we cannot recover a lost key, only revoke it.
You must be at least 18 years old and authorised to act for the entity using the account. One person or organisation per account.
Trips and payment
Usage is metered in trips. Each completed forward attempt draws from your balance once, and the exact figure is reported in the response and itemised in your activity log. Requests rejected before reaching the network — invalid keys, blocked targets, rate limits, oversized payloads — are not charged.
Signup trips do not expire. Purchased top-up packs do not expire and are non-refundable once credited, except where required by law. Balances have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts.
Acceptable use
Your use of the service is also governed by the acceptable use policy, which forms part of these terms. Accounts that violate it may be frozen or terminated without notice.
Availability and limits
The service is provided on an as-is basis. This version carries no service level agreement, no uptime commitment and no support response target.
We may impose or change technical limits — body size, timeout, rate limits, concurrency — to protect the platform and other users.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for trips in the three months before the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost data or business interruption.
Changes and termination
You may stop using the service at any time by revoking your keys. We may suspend or terminate access for abuse, non-payment, or legal requirements.
We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
Ownership and intellectual property
Backfire — its name, wordmark, mark, interface, documentation, copy and source code — is the original work of Gurutva Murdia and is protected by copyright. All rights are reserved.
Your use of the service grants you no ownership of, or licence to, the product or its branding. Reproducing, mirroring, redistributing or reselling any part of it, or using the Backfire name or marks in a way that suggests endorsement, is not permitted. The rights page states exactly what is allowed and how those rights are enforced.
Contact
Questions about these terms, permission requests and formal notices should be sent to backfireapi@outlook.com, addressed to Gurutva Murdia.
These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in them removes any right you have under mandatory consumer law in your own jurisdiction.
