AWS Lambda
A single outbound HTTP path for AWS Lambda
Lambda functions multiply: one per endpoint, each with its own outbound code and its own credentials. Backfire collapses third-party calls into one endpoint you can key, rate-limit and audit in a single place.
What to expect
- Any Lambda runtime works — the call is an HTTPS POST with a JSON body.
- One key per environment in SSM or Secrets Manager; revoke from the dashboard on the next request.
- Function timeouts stay yours; the relay enforces its own ceiling on the upstream leg.
- CloudWatch logs stay readable because the envelope is one predictable object.
Working example
aws-lambda
import json, os, urllib.request
def lambda_handler(event, context):
payload = json.dumps({
"url": "https://api.example.com/v1/status",
"method": "GET",
"timeout_ms": 8000,
}).encode()
req = urllib.request.Request(
"https://backfireapi.base44.app/functions/forward",
data=payload,
headers={
"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['BACKFIRE_KEY']}",
"Content-Type": "application/json",
},
)
with urllib.request.urlopen(req, timeout=30) as response:
envelope = json.load(response)
return {"statusCode": 200, "body": json.dumps(envelope)}Other environments
